Artist Statement
Over the past 12 months, I've been to 1,396 private musical gigs... in my home. Connecting with musicians and other music lovers through live streams has been the highlight of my days. Their tenacity in this nearly impossible situation inspires me to draw those faces that have kept me sane.
MUSIC AND MY ART
Every beat moves my hand around the paper
clearing the strings of my tangled thoughts.
Dirty hands clutching the crumbling charcoal
searching for the right space to mark.
Astounded by the perseverance of the musicians
exiled to their empty rooms.
Playing live stream,
after live stream,
after live stream...
Repeating like the beating of a steadfast drum.
Calling to me
go on
keep going
and again
make your art
share your heart.
